Unearthing the Galloway Hoard – Talk by David Bartholomew
Thursday 19th February 7pm.
The Friends of Biggar Museum are hosting a talk by David Bartholomew – ‘Unearthing the Galloway Hoard.’
This event is currently sold out.
David Bartholomew was present when the Galloway Hoard was discovered and helped lift it from the ground. He will share the events surrounding its discovery and describe the amazing artefacts it contains.
David grew up in Edinburgh, but has been coming to the Broughton area since 1960, when his parents bought an old railway cottage at Rachan. He retired there in 2022 after working as a geologist in Chile and Zimbabwe and serving as a parish minister in Galloway for 28 years.
Tickets, priced £10 including refreshments, are to be purchased in advance from the Museum, which is currently open only at weekends (Saturday 10am – 5pm, Sunday 1pm – 5pm).
