Gladstone Court Streetscape
Walk the streets and explore the shops of Gladstone Court, in an amazing interactive experience that recreates the sights and sounds of a bustling Victorian High Street.

Collection Overview
In Gladstone Court, the clock has turned back 150 years to the second half of the nineteenth century at a time when there were no supermarkets, motorised transport or online shopping. Here, the grocer, ironmonger, apothecary, bootmaker and printer nestle in the street alongside the dressmaker, clockmaker and photographer.
One of the most popular features of the streetscape is an operational telephone exchange that allows visitors to make calls between the shops. Biggar’s first telephone exchange was opened in the Post Office building in 1907, which is where the upgraded 1930s equipment in the museum comes from.
