Seeing the Unseen: Science in the Everyday Exhibition

Step inside the Biggar Museum Gallery this September to experience a vibrant celebration of creativity, discovery, and young imagination. Seeing the Unseen brings together an extraordinary showcase of artwork, inventive designs, and photography created by local students and community members across South Lanarkshire.
Exploration takes centre stage across three distinct features:
• Inventions for the Future (Primary Showcase): Step into the minds of our youngest innovators. From labelled blueprints to recycled 3D prototypes, local primary pupils share their bold ideas for solving real-world challenges and shaping tomorrow’s world.
• Invisible Processes (Secondary Showcase): Highlighting the overlap between art and STEM, secondary students bring unseen phenomena to life. Discover striking visual interpretations of microscopic cellular structures, soundwaves, electromagnetic fields, and environmental cycles, each paired with a short student scientific statement.
• Science in Everyday Life (Community Photography): A community-wide photographic exploration revealing the hidden physics, biology, and chemistry in our daily routines—from frost patterns and light refraction to garden ecosystems and local geology.
Visitors during festival week are invited to take part in the People’s Choice Award by voting for their favourite artwork and photograph. Come celebrate the talents of our local schools and community, and see the world around you through a fresh, scientific lens!
Museum open Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sundays 1-5pm.
