Volunteering

There are many, varied roles for volunteers including; meet and greet at the reception desk and shop, shop window dressing, historical research, museum guide, data entry, care of the collections/conservation, DIY and light gardening.

If you’re more of a practical type you could get involved with caring for our collections both on display or in store, doing some preventive conservation, helping with exhibition change overs – or even doing some light gardening!

Our events programme includes lots of different activities, so perhaps you’d love to dress up and help at our Halloween or Christmas events.

If you prefer being behind the scenes perhaps cataloguing objects & archival material might be more appealing or undertaking some historical research. Because the history of Biggar & Upper Clydesdale museum covers everything from Geology to our 1950s telephone exchange we have something to appeal to anyone interested in history/archaeology/geography/natural science.

If you’re interested in volunteering at the museum please email info@biggarmuseumtrust.co.uk or drop in for an informal chat or telephone 01899 221050.
