75 Years of Cubbies

Date
1st December 2021
Location
Exhibition Space, Biggar Museum

Meet James A Cuthbertson, the incredible man behind the machines at Cubbies, one of Biggar’s oldest firms. James A Cuthbertson Ltd. (Cubbies) was established in 1936 and is a hugely significant business in Biggar. It is probably best known for the snowplough, which was designed and manufactured in Biggar.

Cuthbertson’s engineering skill saw him work with the governments of the UK, Canada and the USA, among others, including work on the underwater pipeline from Britain to France to supply Allied vehicles after D-Day. 75 years on, the limited company Cuthbertson created is still based in Biggar and specialises in equipment for the treatment of winter conditions.
