The new Biggar & Upper Clydesdale Museum will opened on 28 July 2015, and contains the combined collections formerly housed in Moat Park Heritage Centre and Gladstone Court Museum. It is an independent museum managed by Biggar Museum Trust, and is heavily dependent on the work of its volunteers. The staff are Cristina Horvath, the Museum Manager and the part-time Curator, Dr Suzanne Rigg. Many of the tasks are carried out by the volunteers.

The Museum is open to visitors daily except Mondays from April to October inclusive, and on weekends from November to March. For the Museum to be open to visitors, we need at least two volunteers for each morning or afternoon period to staff the reception desk and carry out front of house duties. Full training will be offered. No special skills are needed other than an interest in people, the local heritage and in presenting the Museum to visitors.

We are always keen to welcome new volunteers. Please contact us, preferably by email in the first instance.

The Friends of Biggar & Upper Clydesdale Museum is a charitable organisation founded in 1991. It operates independently of Biggar Museum Trust and runs its own affairs through an elected committee.

Their membership fees of £15 a year go directly to the Trust and they organise a range of fund raising activities. There are also opportunities for Friends to be involved in the day-to-day running of the museums. Members enjoy benefits, such as free entry to the museum and a 10% discount in the shop.
